The Neurosurgery Residency Matching Program (NSMP) was established by the Society of Neurological Surgeons (SNS) to coordinate the appointments for neurosurgery programs and to relieve the pressure on applicants and program directors resulting from early appointments and uncoordinated appointment dates. The SNS residency selection and matching program is administered by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) sponsored Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and the web based National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
In addition to completing and forwarding the application form, three letters of recommendation , a letter from the Dean of the medical school, a transcript of your medical school grades, and a copy of US-MLE scores. Also included is a 300-500 word personal statement. Applications through the ERAS include all of the above with the application.
The application process and deadlines information, and interview dates will be listed with the ERAS and NRMP web sites.
After preliminary screening of applications, approximately 40-50 applicants will be invited for interviews before the final ranking of resident candidates.
